When a server fails in a tree topology the entire branch connected to that server loses its connection to the main network. A tree topology connects different levels of devices. They formed a structure similar to a tree with roots, branches, and leaves.
If the main server at the top level fails, all the devices below it lose access to the network. However, if a server in a lower branch fails, only the devices directly connected to it are affected. The other branches continue working.
Example
A server failure in a tree topology is like a school principal getting sick. When this happens:
The principal (main server) can’t communicate with the department heads (sub-servers). The department heads can’t get information to share with teachers. The teachers then can’t give instructions to students. But other schools in the district keep running fine!
